Consultations

Medical consultation

Not every request is aesthetic: some are a matter of care. This consultation follows the course of any medical consultation — the reason for the visit, the medical history, the examination, then a diagnosis — and may lead to a prescription, tests or a referral to a specialist. Hair that starts to grow on the face, for instance, is investigated before a laser is considered: treating the hair does not treat its cause. A mole that raises questions is examined; if it needs specialist monitoring or removal, referral to a dermatologist is part of the answer.

Duration
20 to 30 min
Protocol
A single session, with follow-up according to the diagnosis

Indications

  • Acne, eczema or pigment marks to be diagnosed
  • Hair loss to investigate
  • Possibly hormonal hair growth, before a laser
  • An opinion on a mole
  • Follow-up of ongoing treatment

How it goes

  1. Before you come

Come without make-up if you can, with a list of your current medications and your medical history. If an aesthetic procedure has already been carried out elsewhere, its date and nature matter.

  2. During the consultation

Examination of the face or the area concerned, discussion of your request, screening for contraindications. All your questions belong here — this is the time set aside for them.

  3. When you leave

A written plan and time to think. Sometimes an explained refusal, when the request has no medical indication — that too is part of the consultation.

Frequently asked questions

Can a procedure be done on the same day?

No, never at a first consultation. The reflection period is not a commercial precaution: it is the time needed to decide away from the momentum of a conversation.

Are there contraindications?

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, an active skin infection, some autoimmune conditions and certain medications are among them. They are checked in consultation, not ticked on a form — and they can lead to a refusal.

What result can I expect?

No result can be guaranteed: it depends on your skin, your age, your lifestyle and the indication retained. What can be stated is what the procedure aims at and what it does not do. The rest is discussed in consultation, in front of your face rather than a photograph.

Preparing for an aesthetic medicine consultation

The first consultation is not about setting a date. It is about examining, ruling out contraindications, and sometimes saying no. How to prepare for it.

Preparing your appointment

This page is informative. It does not replace a medical consultation and is not a promise of results: outcomes and suitability depend on each person.
