Preparing for a laser hair removal session
The laser targets the hair, so the hair must stay in place and the skin out of the sun. What to prepare weeks before the session, and what to watch for afterwards.

Preparing your appointment
A single procedure under local anaesthetic, with a few days of social downtime. What to prepare, what to watch for, and what threads do not replace.
Thread lifts reposition tissue with small anchors placed under the skin, and stimulate collagen production along the way. They are resorbable: the effect fades over twelve to eighteen months. They do not replace a surgical facelift, and very lax skin benefits little — that is the first thing the consultation checks.
A single procedure of forty-five to sixty minutes under local anaesthetic. The lifting effect shows as you leave, but it is exaggerated by swelling: the real result is judged at three weeks.
Allow five to ten days during which the face is swollen, sometimes bruised, with a pulling sensation when you speak. This is not a complication: it is the normal timeline, and it must fit your diary before the date is set.
No aspirin, anti-inflammatories or omega-3 for the three days before, and no alcohol the night before. If you have been prescribed an anticoagulant, never stop it on your own: tell us.
Wash your hair on the morning itself — you will not be able to do so comfortably in the following days — and come without make-up. Plan to sleep on your back, head raised, for a week.
A skin infection or herpes flare-up on the area, an auto-immune disease, a clotting disorder, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or a history of keloid scarring.
Above all, mention any material already placed in the face: previous threads, resorbable or not, recent injections, surgery. What lies under the skin changes the path of the threads, and you are the only one who can say.
The mapping is drawn sitting, with the face at rest then moving — tissue falls when standing, not lying down. After anaesthesia the threads are passed with a cannula through tiny entry points, then the traction is adjusted step by step. The entry points need no stitches, or a single one.
Cold for the first hours, and one instruction that matters more than the others: do not massage the face and limit large facial expressions for three weeks. No sport, hammam or sauna for a fortnight, and no long dental work — a wide-open mouth pulls on the threads.
Small irregularities or slight puckering of the skin are common in the first days and settle on their own. Sleep on your back, head raised.
Call if a thread becomes visible or protrudes, in case of one-sided pain that increases, warm redness or fever, or marked asymmetry persisting beyond two weeks. A thread can be repositioned or removed; it just has to be known early.
None of the above replaces the prior consultation: it alone says whether this procedure is right for you, and on what terms.
This text is informative. It does not replace a medical consultation and is not a promise of results.
